Axolotls are also known as Mexican Walking fish and are neotenic salamanders meaning they stay in water! They are relatively easy to keep and make lovely interesting pets. They are cold water amphibians and can reach lengths of around 1 foot when adult so need a tank with ample space and a filter to help clean up their mess or frequent water changes. Currently being fed on frozen bloodworm but are nearly ready to start a diet of earthworms! I only have a few wildtypes left (see pics) As they have delicate skin and gills (and are opportunistic carnivores!) they should only be housed with axolotls of the same size and are not suitable tank mates for fish and snails!
